From the President:
See below for a list of ways IFB has provided value to our members in September. I encourage you to use this as a tool to help recruit and retain members.
- Illinois Farm Bureau outlined its priorities on the farm bill in a letter to Illinois’ congressional delegation, highlighting the need for commodity and risk-management programs among a variety of needs.
- IFB’s policy resolutions process, a committee of 18 county Farm Bureau presidents and 1 Young Leader advanced eight proposals for final debate at Annual Meeting.
- More than 120 people from 80 Illinois counties participated in the Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom (IAITC) coordinator meeting, celebrating successes and learning new ideas. IAITC reached more than 580,000 students last school year.
- Another successful summer of Adopt-A-Legislator® visits wrapped up, with more than 20 state lawmakers meeting with their adopted farmers.
- Four agriculture teachers received grants from the IAA Foundation’s Illinois Agricultural Education Teacher Grant program, designed to support and help retain new ag teachers.
