April Update: Pickup of IFB articles in other news publications

Each week Illinois Farm Bureau shares articles that originate from within the organization with newspapers across the state. Stories are syndicated through a partnership with the Illinois Press Association (IPA), called the Ag News Service, and can be used by IPA member newspapers to supplement news coverage. Distributed content includes pieces from FarmWeek, Partners and IFB leaders, and aims to bolster coverage of ag-focused issues on mainstream channels.

From April 1-30, IFB articles were published in Illinois newspapers 60 times and reached an estimated 12.9 million people. The top feature by potential reach and syndication in April originated in FarmWeek and discussed economic conditions. Multiple articles distributed through the Ag News Service garnered high audience reach and syndication in April.

  1. “Economic conditions signal flight to liquidity” was picked up by seven newspapers and potentially reached 2.1 million people.
  2. “USDA projects big bump for corn plantings” was picked up by seven newspapers and potentially reached 1.8 million people.
  3. “’We were at the bitter end’: Illinois farmers donate hay to drought-stricken Texas ranchers” was picked up by seven newspapers and potentially reached 1.6 million people.
  4. “Farmers talk stressors, coping methods” was picked up by four newspapers and potentially reached 1.5 million people.
