January Update: Pickup of IFB articles in other news publications
Each week Illinois Farm Bureau shares articles that originate from within the organization with newspapers across the state. Stories are syndicated through a partnership with the Illinois Press Association (IPA), called the Ag News Service, and can be used by IPA member newspapers to supplement news coverage. Distributed content includes pieces from FarmWeek, Partners and IFB leaders, and aims to bolster coverage of ag-focused issues on mainstream channels.
From Jan. 1-31, IFB articles were published in Illinois newspapers 45 times and reached an estimated 5.75 million people. The top feature in January was an op-ed from IFB President Guebert Jr. The second most syndicated story originated in FarmWeek, and the third most popular feature is another op-ed from President Guebert:
- “Bipartisanship, environmental efforts among top priorities heading into 2023” was picked up by 12 newspapers and potentially reached more than 2.5 million people.
- “Food price inflation to remain high; impacts variable” was picked up by 9 newspapers and potentially reached more than 1.4 million people.
- “Winter is a period of downtime, but farmers aren’t staying idle” was picked up by 2 newspapers and potentially reached more than 927,000 people.
