During the Illinois Farm Bureau Leaders to Washington trip, IFB President Richard Guebert Jr. was presented a copy of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).
The copy was presented by Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, D-East Moline, for Guebert’s efforts in encouraging passage of the USMCA.
“It was an honor to accept a signed copy of the USMCA bill from Representative Bustos,” said Guebert. “I’m pleased to accept a copy of the USMCA bill on behalf of the thousands of IFB members who worked for the trade agreement’s passage.”
Bustos was integral in convening a meeting between Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, Farmers for Free Trade and IFB in 2019.
“Illinois farmers faced a great deal of uncertainty and challenges over the past year, between a dangerous trade war and unforgiving weather,” Bustos said. “Throughout this process, IFB has been an invaluable partner and I’m glad I had the opportunity to thank them for their efforts.”
