Illinois Farm Bureau remains committed to helping farmers, farm families and rural communities in need. One way to help is to check in on family, friends and neighbors. We can also become educated not only on the stressors affecting farmers and farm families, but also on how to recognize and respond to mental health crises.
The AgriSafe Network is offering free QPR training in December. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, Refer. The three steps can be taken to help prevent suicide.
The virtual trainings are 1 1/2 hours in length and will provide information on the unique challenges farmers face that can lead to stress, depression and suicide, examples implementing each QPR component with someone at risk for suicide and information on how to help someone at risk of suicide.
Participants ages 18 and older may register for only one session. Training dates include 6:30 p.m. Dec. 9; 9 a.m. Dec. 10; 2 p.m. Dec. 10; or 2 p.m. Dec. 11. To register, click here.
