Statement from the Illinois Farm Bureau Regarding House Defeat of the 2018 Farm Bill

The following is a statement from Illinois Farm Bureau (IFB) President Richard Guebert, Jr., regarding the House defeat of the 2018 Farm Bill.

“Farmers are frustrated and disappointed today after the House’s failure to pass the 2018 Farm Bill. At a time when net farm income is projected to fall to a 12-year low and the trade deals on which we rely are constantly called into question or renegotiated, the farm bill’s safety net programs are more important than ever.

“America’s farmers should not be used as political bargaining chips. We urge the House to pass H.R. 2 as swiftly as possible.”
